Album Review
Pat Benatar's debut album takes the tough-but-tender sensibility of Chrissie Hynde and gives it the arena rock treatment, with a splash of new wave. Which isn't a bad thing; in fact, many consider this to be Benatar's best album. Guitarist (and husband) Neil Geraldo never fails to supply just the right amount of guitar heroism to make the songs rock convincingly and accessibly. "Heartbreaker" has become an AOR classic (and a sort of "angry woman" anthem), and the cover of John Cougar's "I Need A Lover" may even outdo the original. ~ Andy Hinds, All Music Guide
