Album Review
The edgy Nicolas Cage flick "Gone in 60 Seconds" is another action-packed drama featuring the very pouty Angelina Jolie; both of them play dirty dealers and car stealers. British heavy metal revivalists the Cult kick things off with the dark "Painted On My Heart," a haunting track that waves over the underlying sensuality between Cage and Jolie's characters. The quiet menace of Gomez's "Machismo" is striking, but it is Moby's Southern blues creation of "Flower" that seriously captures musical originality. The same goes for "Never Gonna Come Back Down" by fellow electronic colleague BT. Ex-Soul Coughing frontman M. Doughty lends a hand on lead vocals for a trance-happy psychedelic groove. Several rap music gurus also contribute: DMX, Method Man/Redman, but naturally the quickness of gangsta rapper Ice Cube is the only stand out. His hardcore badness is worthwhile as he bumps and grinds on a full tank of unleaded. Unfortunately, this is as exciting as it gets -- a quick sixty seconds. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
