Album Review
Brad Paisley was catapulted to stardom with his debut album, "Who Needs Pictures", and became a household name with songs like "He Didn'T Have To Be" and "We Danced." It's almost hard to imagine that this sophomore album could have the same fate, but "Part II" certainly does live up to its predecessor. The strength of Paisley's songs seem to be in the stories they tell. This 13-track collection, ten of which Paisley wrote or co-wrote, is like an ode to tradition. "Two Feet Of Topsoil," the first track, sets a tone of banjos, fiddles, and steel guitars. The title track features the lovely Chely Wright on harmony, and other notables include the bluesy-sounding "You Have That Effect On Me" and "Too Country" featuring welcome vocals from old-timers Buck Owens, George Jones, and Bill Anderson. ~ Maria Konicki Dinoia, All Music Guide
