Album Review
"20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of George Jones" collects a dozen tracks from Jones' '90s albums for MCA, including "I Don'T Need Your Rocking Chair," "Wrong'S What I Do Best," "Never Bit A Bullet Like This," and "Honky Tonk Song." For the most part the collection stays in the upbeat, rollicking territory of his work -- as exemplified by "High-Tech Redneck," though there are a few ballads, such as "The Love In Your Eyes," for balance. Admittedly, these latter-day MCA albums aren't the finest releases of Jones' career; the glossy productions on them work against the material and Jones' character, but "20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of George Jones" is still a decent collection of his work from this period, and probably a better way for fans to investigate his '90s work than buying the individual albums. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
