Album Review

Mixed by DJ Jason Nevins, "Virgin Records Dance Hits" covers the past three years of the Virgin label's club hits. Given the size of the label and its many offshoots, it's unsurprising that there's a rather diverse range of artists included here, including Janet Jackson (the Sander Kleinenberg mix of "All Nite"), Daft Punk ("One More Time"), N.E.R.D. (Nevins' own mix of "She Wants To Move"), Kylie Minogue (the Whitey mix of "Red Blooded Woman"), Dirty Vegas (the Scumfrog mix of "Days Go By"), and Stacie Orrico (the Dr. Octavo mix of "[There'S Gotta Be] More To Life"). The point of the disc is to round up a bunch of tracks released by one label, but fans of Nevins' mixing style will be the ones most attracted to it. If somebody happens to want a handful of the tracks compiled here (many of which were only available on singles prior to this), he or she is at the mercy of Nevins, who does tend to include as much as possible of each track before moving on to the next pick (i.e., you will not get the whole of each track). ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
