Album Review

This sampler from the otherwise outstanding Live From Las Vegas series features many of the individual artists appearing in the series, as well as a few others who don't that were staples on the Las Vegas strip during the glitz and glamour of Sin City during mid-20th century. Frank Sinatra, reigning king of the city, starts off the disc in fine form with the city's unofficial anthem, "Luck Be A Lady," which is followed by an almost unstoppable who's who lineup guaranteed to satiate the appetite of any lounge lizard. Excellent contributions from Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Louis Prima, Stan Kenton, Bobby Darin, and Sinatra's partners in crime Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. round out the disc, which captures the essence of not only an important time in America's culture, but the vibrant and thriving growth in American music. ~ Rob Theakston, All Music Guide
