Album Review
Several of Stan Kenton's late-'50s studio recordings do not live up to the potential of his talented orchestra. This is a pleasant set that features Lennie Niehaus's concise (mostly under three minutes) arrangements of then-current show tunes such as "The Party'S Over," "Whatever Lola Wants," "Younger than Springtime" and "I Love Paris." Soloists include trumpeter Jack Sheldon, trombonist Ken Larson, Bill Perkins on tenor and Niehaus himself on alto but little exciting happens on what was really a dance-oriented set. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
