Album Review
Universal Music Distribution owns the rights to many '80s singles that reached number one, so it shouldn't be too surprising that "Number 1's: '80s Pop" has one of the most random selections in the "Number 1's" series. The tracks run chronologically, skipping 1984 altogether and stopping at 1987, and the range of selections is very broad, from Captain & Tennille's "Do That To Me One More Time" to Ready for the World's "Oh Sheila" to Steve Winwood's "Higher Love." The disc will likely be the most appealing to DJs who need to fill a few gaps. The packaging will no doubt appeal to your neighborhood's recycling program: though attractive with a die-cut "1," it is made of thin cardboard and Styrofoam, and is biodegradable. Basic track information is all you get. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
